Dr. Douglas McDuffie

About Dr. Douglas McDuffie

Douglas McDuffie is a native of Cleveland, Ohio.  He is a minister, counselor, educator, and a servant of God. He is a resident of Terrell, Texas and is currently employed at Southwestern Christian College (SwCC).  McDuffie has over 30 years experience in pulpit ministry having served the North Main Church of Christ in Hutchins, Texas, as well as the East Side Church of Christ Greenville, Texas. He has also served as assistant professor and head track coach at Swcc for over 15 years. He was the recipient of the prestigious “Coach of the Year” award in 1996. During his tenure at Southwestern, he has also served as a Alcohol and Drug Prevention Specialist for its National Youth Sports Program which was held during the summer for the youth of Kaufman County.  At SwCC he presently teaches psychology, sociology and human development (orientation) courses, as well as  serving as Men’s Housing Coordinator.

Mr. McDuffie received his A.S. from Southwestern Christian College, his B.A. from Hiram College, Hiram, Ohio, and his M.A. in counseling from Amber University in Garland, Texas.  He has also earned an M.A. and Doctor of Theology degree from Slidell Seminary, Slidell, Louisiana.

During his professional career, Mr. McDuffie has served in areas of volunteer counseling for the Texas Youth Commission where he was responsible for organizing group counseling sessions for youth ages 14-18 and planning activities to prepare the youth to return into their communities. He has also served as a volunteer with Terrell State Hospital.  There he worked in individual and group counseling sessions with drug patients while assisting with the dual-diagnosis of patients.  He has been responsible for creating mentoring programs and assisting students in their career goals, extra curriculum activities, employment and adjustment of college life at Southwestern Christian College.

Mr. McDuffie is the founder of “Bounce Back Ministries, Inc.,” a non-profit organization created to educate and resource out to help families with loved ones who are incarcerated. Through this ministry, he is able to reach out to form support, training and education for these families using biblical principles.      

Other notable accolades for Mr. McDuffie include certifications of achievement in the areas of Life After Loss in a Correctional Setting, Victim Impact Program, Stress Management, and Career Search.  He has also acquired training in Hospice Care as well as Parenting Skills.  Over the past 6 years he has assisted and taught inmates regarding how to survive within the confines of a correctional institution and cope as they return back into their families and communities.
